MARINA emerges as one of anti red tape champions

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has been hailed as a Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) Champion by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) during the 4th Annual ENRICH: Empowering Next-Generation RIA Champions—solidifying the agency’s standing as a leader in regulatory reform.

 

MARINA Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan highlighted MARINA’s ongoing efforts saying, “Patuloy ang pagsusumikap ng MARINA na gumawa ng malinaw at makabuluhang polisiya para sa industriya. Ang pagkilalang ito ay patunay na nasa tama tayong direksyon at patuloy nating pahuhusayin ang aming serbisyo publiko.”

MARINA earned the recognition for its strong commitment to crafting evidence-based policies and for its active participation in ARTA’s capacity-building efforts. Director II Precila C. Jara of the Planning and Policy Service (PPS) accepted the Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the agency.

 

MARINA personnel were also individually honored for completing the intensive RIA Phase II course, equipping them with advanced skills in policy development, stakeholder analysis, and cost-benefit evaluation. Awardees include: Engr. Nikko Ariel Non, Engr. Jeremiah Perez, Mr. Alfonso Escabarte II (Shipyards Regulation Service); Mr. Justin James Tulio, Ms. Maria Krizel Hiyas Magbojos (Planning and Policy Service) This milestone follows MARINA’s Silver Award for top performance in Good Governance at ARTA’s Recognition and Engagement Forum in May 2025—further proof of the agency’s drive for regulatory excellence.

 

With these achievements, MARINA reinforces its commitment to efficient, transparent, and people-centered maritime regulation, ensuring better policies and services for the maritime industry and the Filipino public.
