DOTr gives commuters the ‘Gift of Mobility’ with 12 days of Christmas free rides on major rail lines

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is thrilled to announce a special Christmas gift for Filipino commuters: 12 Days of Free Rides on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2).

In a move aimed at providing a safer, more comfortable, and joyful travel experience during the holiday season, the initiative is in direct compliance with the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The program will run for 12 consecutive days, starting on December 14 and culminating on Christmas Day, December 25.

“This holiday offering is the DOTr’s way of extending our profound gratitude to the hardworking Filipino public,” said DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez. “We want to ease the burden of travel costs and contribute to a truly merry Christmas for our fellow citizens. We are fulfilling the President’s directive to ensure that the spirit of giving and mobility is felt by everyone, especially those who rely on our rail transit systems.”

Each day features a specific group of beneficiaries who can avail themselves of the free transportation service on the MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 lines. The general operational hours of the rail lines will apply.

The DOTr reminds all eligible passengers to bring the necessary identification documents on their respective days to facilitate swift boarding and ensure the smooth flow of passengers.

“Let’s celebrate Christmas together,” said DOTr Secretary Lopez. “Christmas is Merry in every trip, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this initiative. Let’s get on board and experience a comfortable holiday journey with us!”

The DOTr is confident that this program will significantly enhance the holiday experience for thousands of commuters and foster a greater sense of community during this festive season.
