PAL sends off Team Philippines to SEA Games, launches exclusive travel benefits for national athletes

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) joined the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) in a celebratory send-off ceremony for the Filipino delegation bound for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Thailand. The event, held recently at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, not only honored the athletes but also marked the official activation of a new standard of logistical support from the nation’s flag carrier.

The SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20, 2025. Team Philippines’ departure for the host country via Philippine Airlines, the official airline sponsor of the PSC, has already begun.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the handover of the Mabuhay Miles National Athlete ID Card to the athletes and coaches. This specialized identification officially grants the national delegation immediate access to exclusive travel privileges designed to ensure comfort and convenience as they represent the country.

The comprehensive benefits package includes:

Extra Baggage Allowance for essential sports equipment.

Waiver of First Rebooking Fees for select SEA Games 2025 tickets.

Elevated Service for national athletes on PAL flights.

Mabuhay Miles Rewards for medal-winning athletes.

“As our national heroes representing the country with pride, you deserve our full support and heartfelt care,” said Alvin Miranda, PAL Vice President for Marketing. “At Philippine Airlines, we are deeply committed to delivering world-class service to our athletes, who embody the spirit and strength of the Filipino people.”

The partnership between PAL and the PSC is designed to directly support the logistical needs of the Philippine delegation for official PSC-endorsed competitions.

PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio affirmed the significance of the flag carrier’s backing. “Our partnership with Philippine Airlines ensures that our focus remains squarely on performance, knowing that the journey is expertly handled by the nation’s flag carrier. We thank PAL for their commitment to our athletes.”

Addressing the athletes, POC President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino delivered an inspirational message, recognizing the scale of the team. “This is the biggest Philippine Team delegation to the SEA Games ever. Mabuhay ang Team Philippines!”

PAL’s support for the 2025 SEA Games marks the beginning of a significant three-year partnership with the PSC, running from October 2025 to October 2028. This collaboration will provide sustained support for Team Philippines as they train and compete, setting their sights all the way to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
