Montenegro Shipping Lines, Inc. (MSLI) achieved a significant milestone in its continuous fleet modernization program with the official launching of its newest Roll-On/Roll-Off Passenger (ROPAX) vessel, MV Santa Dorothea. The ship was unveiled today in a ceremony held at the shipyard in Fujian, China, where it was constructed.
The addition of the MV Santa Dorothea reinforces MSLI’s unwavering commitment to providing safer, faster, and more efficient inter-island travel for passengers and cargo across the Philippines.
Built with modern design and performance capabilities in mind, the MV Santa Dorothea showcases a robust set of specifications, underscoring its readiness for extensive service:

Length Overall (LOA): 72 meters
Breadth: 15 meters
Depth: 4.50 meters
Constructed with a durable steel hull, the vessel is classified by RINA, a recognized member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). This classification ensures the MV Santa Dorothea complies with globally recognized maritime safety and quality regulations.
Powering the new ROPAX are two reliable diesel engines manufactured by Zichai Power Co. Ltd, optimized for efficient passenger and cargo operations across MSLI’s extensive Philippine route network.
Company officials attending the launch expressed strong optimism, emphasizing that the MV Santa Dorothea signifies MSLI’s continued strategic investment in strengthening and expanding its nationwide service network.
The vessel is currently undergoing final comprehensive checks and sea trials in China to ensure peak operational readiness before its deployment. The MV Santa Dorothea is expected to arrive in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2026. Following its arrival, the vessel will undergo final preparations before its deployment to one of Montenegro Shipping Lines’ major inter-island routes.
