Pres. Marcos Jr. instructs DHSUD to focus on high-quality, transit-oriented housing through the 4PH program

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to accelerate and refine the delivery of government housing, prioritizing the construction of quality residences strategically located near workplaces, transport terminals, and essential services.

The President issued the directive during a meeting on Monday with DHSUD officials, led by Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, to discuss catch-up plans for the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program and other housing initiatives.

According to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the President’s mandate is centered on ensuring a higher quality of life for families residing in government housing units.

“Alinsunod sa layunin ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na pagaanin ang pamumuhay ng mga residenteng lilipat sa mga pabahay ng pamahalaan, ipinag-utos ngayong araw ng Pangulo sa Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development… na unahin ang pagbibigay ng mga de kalidad na mga pabahay malapit sa trabaho, terminal at iba pang pangunahing serbisyo ng pamahalaan,” Castro said in a Palace press briefing.

Key directives from the President include:

Strategic Location: Prioritizing housing projects that reduce the commute burden on residents by placing them closer to key infrastructure and sources of livelihood.

Flexible and Affordable Options: Promoting rental housing and other innovative programs to provide a wider array of affordable housing choices for low- and middle-income families.

Simplified Purchasing Process: Streamlining the documentation and payment procedures to make the path to homeownership more accessible to beneficiaries.

President Marcos reiterated the necessity of providing decent, affordable, and quality housing, underscoring its role as a fundamental pillar in his administration’s social agenda.

The DHSUD is expected to integrate these directives into the ongoing implementation of the 4PH Program, ensuring that future projects are built not just as structures, but as thriving, well-connected communities.
