Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ leading carrier, is shifting the conversation on corporate social responsibility by integrating sustainability directly into its core business strategy.
During a recent “Leaders Beyond Boardroom” session, Aileen Macasaet Isidro, Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer, emphasized that for the airline, sustainability is a driver of operational excellence rather than a peripheral activity.
Addressing the company’s “Moment Makers” (employees), Isidro clarified that while environmental initiatives are important, true sustainability is rooted in making purposeful, enduring business decisions.
“Sustainability is not just about planting trees, recycling, or charity,” said Isidro. “It is about efficiency, affordability, and making decisions today that ensure we can continue to serve the public for decades to come.”
Cebu Pacific’s sustainability framework is built on three primary pillars:
Operational Efficiency: Maintaining a young, fuel-efficient fleet to reduce carbon footprint while keeping costs low.
Economic Accessibility: Ensuring air travel remains affordable for Filipinos, thereby enabling regional tourism and economic growth.
Community Resilience: Acting as a trusted emergency first responder during national crises, leveraging the airline’s vast network to provide critical relief.
The airline maintains that operating profitably is essential to creating a lasting impact. By balancing the needs of the environment, the communities it serves, and the business’s financial health, Cebu Pacific aims to demonstrate that corporate growth and social good are mutually inclusive.
As Cebu Pacific continues to expand its reach across the Philippines and beyond, it remains committed to a strategy where “doing good” is embedded in every flight, every fare, and every operational decision.
