Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to social welfare, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the “Pasko Kasama ang Pangulo” event on Wednesday at the Pag-Abot Processing Center, signaling a major expansion of government support for families and individuals in street situations.
During his visit to the Nasdake Building in Pasay City, the President inspected the facility’s comprehensive amenities—including medical rooms, wellness areas, and temporary housing—and personally served meals to beneficiaries at the newly launched Walang Gutom Kitchen.
“The President’s visit aims to make our countrymen feel that the government is with them this Christmas,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro. “Under the leadership of President Marcos Jr., all programs aimed at providing protection and hope to the Filipino family will continue and grow in the coming year.”
Wider Geographic Reach: Currently operating in the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon, and Calabarzon, the program is slated for expansion into Central Visayas in 2025.
Institutional Strength: Originally a pilot project in 2023, the program was institutionalized by the President via Executive Order No. 52 (Series of 2024), ensuring long-term funding and operational stability.
Proven Results: In its initial phase, the program served 1,772 beneficiaries, successfully reintegrating 741 individuals with their families.
Fighting Hunger: The Walang Gutom Kitchen, launched on December 16, 2024, currently provides daily breakfast and lunch to up to 300 walk-in beneficiaries. Plans are underway to establish similar food banks in Central Luzon and Central Visayas next year.
The Pag-Abot Processing Center serves as a 180-bed temporary shelter that provides immediate intervention for those living on the streets. By combining immediate food security with long-term social welfare services, the administration aims to move more Filipinos from the streets into stable, dignified living conditions.
