Yuchengco-led Isabela solar plant begins supplying clean power to the Luzon grid

PetroEnergy Resources Corporation (PERC) announced that clean, renewable, and indigenous‑sourced power has begun flowing to the Luzon grid from the 40 MWDC Limbauan Solar Power Facility of Rizal Green Energy Corporation (RGEC), a joint venture between PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC) and Japan’s Taisei Corporation.

The milestone was achieved on 18 December 2025, following the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) issuance of a Provisional Certificate of Approval to Connect (PCATC) for the project’s 33.831 MWDC Phase 2 on 17 December 2025. The plant had earlier completed energization as a load facility on 24 November 2025.

The Limbauan Solar Plant is the third RGEC facility to deliver power to the grid, following the successful commercial operations of the 27 MWDC Dagohoy Solar Plant in Bohol and the 19.6 MWDC San Jose Solar Plant in Nueva Ecija, which commenced operations on 16 July and 1 August 2025, respectively.

Maria Victoria Olivar, Vice President of PGEC, highlighted the significance of the achievement:

“We are pleased to start exporting power from our Limbauan solar phase 2 facility, which is a Green Energy Auction (GEA)-2 qualified project. This milestone testifies to the strong cooperation forged among PGEC, DOE, NGCP, IEMOP, and the San Pablo and Isabela local governments, whose support was crucial for the project’s timely completion.”

Olivar added that additional capacity is expected to come online soon: “In the coming weeks, we also expect to energize Limbauan’s 6.006 MWDC Phase 1 and the 25 MWDC Bugallon solar facility in Pangasinan, which have been completed and are only awaiting NGCP clearance. Once energized, PGEC would have 263 MW of utility‑scale operational renewable energy facilities.”

This development reinforces the Yuchengco Group’s commitment to expanding the country’s renewable energy portfolio and supporting the Philippines’ transition to cleaner, more sustainable power sources.
