President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. honored the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) during its 90th Anniversary celebration at Camp Aguinaldo on Friday, praising the 160,000-strong personnel for their unwavering commitment to national security, sovereignty, and peace.
In a stirring address, the President credited the men and women of the AFP for the stability enjoyed by the Filipino people, stating that the nation’s daily life—from children attending school to the thriving economy—is made possible by their constant vigilance.
President Marcos Jr. highlighted the significant strides made over the past year in addressing both internal and external threats. He emphasized that the AFP’s “presence, preparedness, and professionalism” have fundamentally strengthened the country’s defense posture.

Maritime Sovereignty: The President reaffirmed the Philippines’ firm stance on its territory, stating, “What is ours is ours. We stand our ground, with purpose and without apology.” He noted that ongoing cooperative maritime activities demonstrate the nation’s commitment to international law.
Cybersecurity Evolution: Acknowledging modern frontiers of warfare, the President cited the AFP’s expanded digital operations in securing the country’s systems against evolving technological threats.
Humanitarian Leadership: The AFP’s role in disaster response was lauded for saving lives and restoring hope in communities hit by natural calamities.
As the country enters the Christmas season, the President reminded the troops that their service provides the foundation for the festivities enjoyed by their fellow citizens.
“Nagdiriwang ang sambayanang Pilipino nang may panatag na loob dahil alam naming nariyan kayo—nagbabantay at handang tumugon para sa bayan,” (The Filipino nation celebrates with peace of mind because we know you are there—watching over and ready to respond for the country), the President stressed.
