President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued a heartfelt reminder to the Filipino people on Tuesday, urging them to celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays with mindfulness and safety.
In his latest video blog (BBM VLOG 275: Christmas 2025), the President extended his warmest wishes for a joyful and peaceful season, emphasizing that the true essence of the holidays lies in the company of family and loved ones.
“Sana ay masaya at mapayapa ang inyong pagdiriwang kasama ang inyong mga kaanak at kaibigan,” the President said. (I hope your celebration with your relatives and friends is happy and peaceful.)
To ensure that the festivities remain “complete and happy,” the Chief Executive highlighted three critical areas of concern:
-
Heart Health & Moderation: Citing the seasonal spike in cardiovascular emergencies, the President cautioned against overindulgence. “Sa pagkain, ‘yung sakto lang po,” he advised, noting that heart attack cases often rise during this period due to the excessive consumption of fatty foods.
-
Road Safety: With the increase in holiday travel and social gatherings, the President reminded motorists to remain vigilant and prioritize safe driving practices to avoid accidents.
-
Firework Safety: Looking ahead to the New Year, the President strongly urged the public to abandon dangerous pyrotechnics. He encouraged the use of “torotot” (toy trumpets) and other noisy alternatives to welcome 2026 without the risk of injury.
The President’s appeal comes as the Department of Health (DOH) prepares for its annual monitoring of firework-related injuries. Historically, the DOH records hundreds of preventable injuries nationwide during the transition to the New Year.
By choosing safer celebratory methods, the President emphasized that Filipino families can avoid the tragedy of holiday-related accidents and hospitalizations.
“Doon na po tayo sa mga torotot at iba pang maingay na mga laruan para kumpleto at masaya ang pagsalubong natin sa darating na Bagong Taon,” President Marcos concluded.
