SLEX to implement new toll rates starting January 2026, phased tranches set to ease impact on motorists

SMC SLEX, Inc. and Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. (MATES) today announced the upcoming implementation of new toll rates for the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). This move follows the provisional approval by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to consolidate periodic toll rate adjustment petitions filed between 2018 and 2024.

The adjustment serves as only the third periodic increase since SLEX became fully operational in January 2011. The additional revenue is earmarked for the continued high-standard maintenance, operational safety, and infrastructure improvements required to provide a faster and more convenient travel experience for South-bound commuters.

Recognizing the economic impact on the motoring public, SMC SLEX, Inc. has voluntarily opted to implement the approved adjustments in two (2) separate tranches rather than a single, full-sum increase.

  • Tranche 1: Effective January 1, 2026

  • Tranche 2: Effective July 2026

The TRB has authorized an additional toll rate per kilometer of ₱0.74 for Class 1, ₱1.48 for Class 2, and ₱2.22 for Class 3. Below is a summary of the 1st Tranche rates for key segments:

Section Class 1 (Cars/SUVs) Class 2 (Buses/Trucks) Class 3 (Large Trucks)
Alabang to Calamba ₱126.00 ₱253.00 ₱379.00
Calamba to Sto. Tomas ₱34.00 ₱68.00 ₱102.00
Total (End-to-End) ₱160.00 ₱321.00 ₱481.00

Breakdown of Increases (Tranche 1):

  • Alabang to Calamba: Additional ₱10.00 (Class 1), ₱21.00 (Class 2), and ₱31.00 (Class 3).

  • Calamba to Sto. Tomas: Additional ₱3.00 (Class 1), ₱5.00 (Class 2), and ₱8.00 (Class 3).

  • End-to-End (Alabang to Sto. Tomas): Total adjustment of ₱13.00, ₱26.00, and ₱39.00 for Classes 1, 2, and 3, respectively.

SMC SLEX, Inc. emphasizes that these adjustments are vital to sustaining the expressway’s modernization. Since 2011, SLEX has evolved into a primary economic artery for the Calabarzon region. The adjusted rates will ensure that the facility remains at peak performance, focusing on road safety enhancements, faster electronic toll collection (ETC) processing, and overall motorist convenience.

The Notice of Toll Rate Implementation was officially published in newspapers of general circulation on August 12, 19, and 26, 2025, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
