The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced today the reopening of critical repaired segments of the EDSA Busway in Makati City, marking a significant milestone in the government’s commitment to modernizing the metro’s main artery.
Effective immediately, the following sections are fully operational for bus commuters and authorized vehicles:
-
Southbound: Taft Avenue to Orense Street
-
Northbound: Magallanes Avenue to Orense Street
Following President Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate the EDSA Rehabilitation Project, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan confirmed that work on the remaining “gap” sections is currently in full swing. Crews are working around the clock to complete the paving of:
-
Southbound: Taft Avenue to Roxas Boulevard
-
Northbound: Roxas Boulevard to Magallanes Avenue
In addition to asphalt paving and structural repairs, teams are currently finalizing the installation of high-visibility thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure maximum safety for night driving and rainy conditions.
To minimize the impact on the commuting public and private motorists, the DPWH is implementing a strict “Night-Only” work window. Starting January 5, 2026, all repair activities and heavy machinery deployment will adhere to the following schedule:
-
Work Window: 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM (Following Day)
-
Rush Hour Status: All lanes will be cleared and opened to traffic outside of these hours to ensure a smooth flow during peak morning and evening commutes. “We are entering the home stretch of this rehabilitation phase,” said a DPWH spokesperson. “By shifting our primary operations to the late-night window, we are balancing the urgent need for infrastructure repair with the daily reality of EDSA traffic. We ask for the public’s continued patience as we deliver a smoother, safer transit experience.”
| Segment | Direction | Status |
| Taft Ave to Orense | Southbound | REOPENED |
| Magallanes to Orense | Northbound | REOPENED |
