SEC honored by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for pioneering financial education initiatives

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been formally recognized by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for its commitment to financial literacy, receiving the prestigious Innovative Financial Education Partner award.

The recognition was conferred on November 18, 2025, during the second day of the Financial Education Stakeholders’ Congress. This award highlights agencies that successfully implement creative, scalable, and impactful financial education programs designed to foster financial resilience and inclusion across the Philippines.

The BSP’s recognition underscores the SEC’s effectiveness in establishing institutional learning systems and robust impact measurement. By prioritizing accessible education, the Commission has empowered Filipinos to navigate the complexities of the financial landscape better. “It is an honor for the SEC to be recognized for its initiatives to promote financial education, which is a crucial step toward ensuring that people can make smart investment decisions,” said SEC Chairperson Francis Lim.

The SEC has remained at the forefront of financial literacy through strategic partnerships and modern communication strategies:

  • Protect Your Money Campaign: Relaunched in June through the Financial Sector Forum (comprising the BSP, SEC, PDIC, and IC), this campaign pivoted to digital platforms to combat the rise of online scams.

  • Multimedia Engagement: To reach a broader audience, the SEC utilized high-impact digital content, including social media reels, short-form videos, and targeted digital campaigns.

  • Thought Leadership: The Commission actively participated in panel discussions during the 2025 Congress, sharing best practices and innovative tools for promoting effective financial learning.

Through these efforts, the SEC continues to bridge the gap between financial services and public understanding, ensuring a safer investment environment for all stakeholders.
