NEC receives top honors at Newsweek AI Impact Awards for pioneering responsible AI solutions

NEC Corporation has been distinguished with five prestigious awards at the Newsweek AI Impact APAC & EMEA Awards. The accolades recognize NEC’s leadership in deploying practical, ethical, and transformative artificial intelligence to solve complex business and societal challenges.

As digital transformation accelerates across the Philippines’ transport, public service, and enterprise sectors, these awards underscore the critical need for trusted AI systems. NEC’s success highlights its role in building resilient digital infrastructure that balances high-performance computing with uncompromising security.

“These awards affirm NEC’s ability to deliver AI that is not only powerful but also secure and trustworthy,” said Ma. Sherlyn Omalin, President of NEC Philippines, Inc. “By applying these technologies locally, we aim to help build smarter, more resilient systems that support Filipino communities and enterprises.”

NEC was honored across five distinct categories, showcasing the versatility of its proprietary AI core technology, NEC cotomi:

  • AI Brand & Retail (Marketing & Creative): Cited for “The Taste of Life,” a collaboration with Coedo Brewery. Using Agentic AI, NEC analyzed multi-generational lifestyle data to co-create craft beer recipes, blending artisan expertise with dialogue-based AI.

  • AI Brand & Retail (Product Development): Recognized for its AI-Powered New Product Demand Forecasting Solution, which utilizes proprietary algorithms to predict demand for new items with limited historical data, streamlining stakeholder decision-making.

  • Most Innovative AI Technology (AI Innovation): Honored for Negotiation AI, a system that automates procurement negotiations for delivery dates and quantities. Internal trials showed significant gains in operational efficiency by deriving mutually optimal terms.

  • AI Transparency & Responsibility: Awarded for pioneering tools—including a Quality Checker, LLM Explainer, and Fact Checker—designed to eliminate LLM “hallucinations.” These tools enhance the reliability of generative AI across NEC cotomi and Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service.

  • AI Workplace (Leadership & Succession): Recognized for the “Client Zero” initiative, where NEC acts as the first adopter of its own solutions. This includes AI-driven management dashboards that integrate real-time performance data with predictive insights.

NEC remains dedicated to the research and development of “Safe and Secure AI.” By championing a “Client Zero” philosophy, the company ensures that every solution is rigorously tested in-house before being deployed to help customers navigate the evolving digital landscape in the Philippines and globally.
