NLEX to implement final tranche of approved toll adjustments on January 20

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has authorized NLEX Corporation to implement the second and final tranche of its 2023 periodic toll rate adjustments, effective January 20, 2026.

The adjustment follows a rigorous regulatory review process. To cushion the impact on the motoring public, the TRB and NLEX previously agreed to defer these 2023 adjustments and implement them in two separate phases.

The adjustment affects both the Open and Closed systems of the expressway. Under the new matrix, the following rates will apply:

Open System (Metro Manila to Marilao, Bulacan)

  • Class 1 (Cars/SUVs): Additional ₱6.00

  • Class 2 (Buses/Small Trucks): Additional ₱12.00

  • Class 3 (Large Trucks/Trailers): Additional ₱16.00

Closed System (Bocaue, Bulacan to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City)

  • An additional ₱0.26 per kilometer will be applied.

For motorists traveling the full length of NLEX (Metro Manila to Mabalacat City), the total adjustment will amount to ₱24 for Class 1, ₱60 for Class 2, and ₱72 for Class 3 vehicles.

These periodic adjustments are vital for maintaining the long-term viability of private infrastructure investments, ensuring that NLEX remains a safe and efficient gateway for Northern Luzon.

To support national efforts in stabilizing food prices and managing inflation, NLEX will continue its Agricultural Toll Rebate Program. This initiative provides relief to vehicles transporting agricultural products that are duly accredited by the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The toll adjustments follow a period of significant capital investment (2022–2025) aimed at improving motorist safety and mobility. Key projects completed include:

  • Major Infrastructure: The Candaba 3rd Viaduct and SFEX Capacity Expansion.

  • Flood Mitigation: Road raising in the San Simon area.

  • Decongesting Interchanges: Expansion of the Meycauayan NB Exit and construction of the new F. Raymundo NB Exit.

  • Technology Upgrades: Enhancements to toll plaza equipment and roadway lighting.

Looking ahead, NLEX is set to open the first two-kilometer section of the NLEX-C5 Northlink later this year. This project connects the Mindanao toll plaza to Quirino Highway in Novaliches, specifically designed to bypass the chronic traffic gridlock on Mindanao Avenue.
