In a major push to modernize infrastructure governance and eliminate systemic corruption, Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon has issued a call to action for the nation’s youth to join the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Following a direct mandate from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DPWH is set to fill 2,000 vacant positions, specifically targeting dynamic and idealistic young professionals. The recruitment drive aims to infuse the agency with “fresh blood” to accelerate national development and champion transparency.
Speaking at the opening of the DPWH Campus Job Fair at Mapúa University this Wednesday, Secretary Dizon emphasized that the influx of young talent is critical to the department’s transformation. Addressing over 300 student applicants, he framed the recruitment not just as a career move but as a civic duty.
“This is a golden opportunity for you, young engineers, to come in and be part of the solution,” Secretary Dizon stated. “We need more people to join us and try to solve these problems. We need to remove the rotten eggs and bring in fresh blood.”
