Globe expands collaboration with Nokia to provide full range of network APIs

Globe Telecom Inc. (Globe), a leading digital solutions provider in the Philippines with over 60 million customers, has expanded its collaboration with Nokia to accelerate the rollout of network application programming interfaces (APIs) across its partner and developer ecosystem.

By providing access to deep functionality and data within networks, APIs unlock new ways for enterprises to leverage the power of advanced network capabilities. Industries such as banking, health care, automotive, entertainment and defense have developed early use cases, with more on the horizon as awareness grows around this technology’s transformative potential.

Under the agreement, Globe will gain access to the full portfolio of APIs available through Nokia’s Network Exposure Platform (NEP), a cloud-native, programmable infrastructure that streamlines API service delivery and fosters interoperability across various network environments. In February 2025, Globe announced it would test NEP to develop security-focused applications that combat mobile banking fraud. Now, as several banks in the Philippines plan to roll out Globe’s Number Verification API, Nokia and Globe are building on that momentum to create similar opportunities for industries across the entire API ecosystem.

“Nokia’s open API solutions will empower Globe to rapidly develop and deploy new services, fostering innovation and creating new revenue streams by securely exposing network capabilities to developers and partners,” said Shkumbin Hamiti, Nokia Head of Network Monetization Platform. “End users will experience a richer ecosystem of digital services, personalized applications and improved connectivity.”

“With cyberattacks on digital services accelerating, it is crucial that we make available the latest network-powered technologies to our enterprise customers and help them safeguard against fraud. We are now at the stage of testing how Nokia’s NEP can support our customers in the banking and enterprise sectors with security verification tools to prevent fraudulent transactions,” said KD Dizon, VP & Head of Globe Business. “Working together to advance network APIs, we can foster economic growth, support local innovation and enhance connectivity for a more digitally inclusive society.”

Nokia NEP is an implementation of the GSMA Operator Platform, a standard for a common platform exposing operator capabilities to developers. Globe and Nokia contribute to GSMA Open Gateway and Linux Foundation CAMARA, both of which are leading the way to harmonize the efforts of operators worldwide through the development of standards-based APIs.

Nokia NEP complements and integrates with Nokia’s Network as Code platform with developer portal, which aligns with the GSMA Open Gateway aggregator concept and provides a cloud-based platform to connect and monetize service provider networks with application developers.
