President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed government agencies to fast-track the implementation of vital infrastructure projects, signaling a shift toward “concrete action” to bolster the national economy.
During a high-level meeting with his economic team on Friday, the President emphasized the need for urgency in executing the administration’s reform measures. Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that the Chief Executive’s directive was clear: “Let’s move forward.”
The meeting centered on a multi-pronged strategy to stimulate economic activity and improve the quality of life for Filipinos. Key focus areas include:
-
Infrastructure & Education: Prioritizing the rapid construction of classrooms to address gaps in the education sector.
-
Digital Transformation: Implementing digitalization across government processes to accelerate job creation and improve ease of doing business.
-
Human Capital Development: Strengthening health and education services to build a more resilient workforce.
-
Inclusive Development: Focusing on poverty alleviation, social protection, and sustainable growth models.
To ensure these directives do not stall, President Marcos Jr. has instituted a rigorous reporting mechanism. All relevant government agencies are now required to submit fortnightly progress reports (every two weeks). This “phase-by-phase” monitoring is intended to identify bottlenecks early and maintain the momentum of development projects under their jurisdiction.
“The President is looking for real reforms and tangible results,” Castro stated during a Palace briefing, noting that the administration remains committed to its goals of economic stability and inclusive prosperity.
