President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spearheaded the Philippine Telecommunications Summit 2026 today at the Newport Dome, Newport Resorts World, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to a fully connected nation.
Organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the summit served as a platform for the President to articulate a vision where digital access is a fundamental right, not a luxury.
During his keynote address, President Marcos Jr. emphasized that the administration’s goal transcends technical metrics. “Digital connectivity is not just a measure of internet speed; it is an opportunity to study, work, do business, and prosper,” the President stated. “Our mission is to ensure that no Filipino is left offline, particularly our countrymen in the most remote and far-flung areas of the archipelago.”
The President highlighted several key pillars of the administration’s digital strategy aimed at providing fast, affordable, and inclusive internet access:

Infrastructure Expansion: Accelerated rollout of 5G and fiber networks nationwide.

The Connected Pinoy Law: Policy reforms designed to lower barriers for internet service providers and enhance competition.

National Broadband Fiber Backbone Project: The completion of critical phases to strengthen the country’s primary data highway.

Free Public Internet Access Program: Continued expansion of Wi-Fi zones in public spaces and educational institutions.

Bayanihan SIM Card Project: An initiative focused on bridging the gap for marginalized communities to ensure every Filipino has a digital identity and access.
The summit concluded with a strong call for unity. The President urged the private sector to collaborate more closely with the government under the spirit of “Digital Bayanihan.” By joining forces, he noted, the Philippines can build a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) rooted in a robust digital foundation that fosters progress, opportunity, and national unity.
