The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation and the National Power Corporation (NPC) have successfully concluded a strategic target-setting workshop for the Agus-Pulangi Hydroelectric Power Plants (HEPPs).
Held on January 22, 2026, the session established the 2026 Performance Standard Measurement System for Operating Plants (PSMSOP), a framework designed to ensure Mindanao’s primary renewable energy source operates at peak efficiency and remains compliant with evolving regulatory landscapes.
The workshop focused on a singular, critical objective: strengthening plant dependability while enhancing operational efficiency. By aligning performance targets with modern industry standards, PSALM and NPC aim to guarantee the continuous delivery of affordable, reliable, and clean energy to millions of consumers.
The 2026 PSMSOP targets encompass five critical operational pillars:
-
Operations and Maintenance (O&M): Optimizing equipment longevity and uptime.
-
Energy Generation: Maximizing output to meet regional demand.
-
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to reporting and legal standards.
-
Environmental Management: Maintaining ecological balance in the surrounding watersheds.
-
Safety and Fire Protection: Prioritizing the welfare of the workforce and the integrity of the infrastructure.
The activity was a multi-departmental effort led by PSALM’s Asset Management and Electricity Trading Departments. They were joined by key stakeholders from NPC–Mindanao Generation, the Agus–Pulangi HEPPs, and NPC’s Environmental Management and Energy Services Departments.
The session concluded with an open forum, allowing technical teams to address ground-level operational concerns. This collaborative dialogue ensured that the resulting targets are not only ambitious but also clear, measurable, and achievable. “This workshop underscores our joint commitment to excellence,” the parties noted in a collective statement. “By setting rigorous benchmarks today, we are securing a more stable and sustainable energy future for Mindanao.”
Both PSALM and NPC have affirmed their full commitment to the effective implementation of these targets throughout the 2026 fiscal year.
