Emerging nickel producer DMCI Mining Corporation recorded its highest nickel ore production to date in 2025, delivering 2.0 million wet metric tons (WMT), a 33% increase from 1.5 million WMT in 2024. Nickel ore shipments likewise rose 31% year-on-year to 1.9 million WMT, marking the company’s second-highest shipment volume on record.
The strong performance was driven by increased output from DMCI Mining’s Zambales operations, complemented by the initial operations of the Long Point mine.
“We are encouraged by the improving fundamentals of the nickel industry after a challenging period,” said Tulsi Das C. Reyes, President of DMCI Mining Corporation. “Our record production, favorable prices, and the continued progress of our Long Point development position us well for sustainable growth—both for the company and for the host communities we operate in.”
Supporting the production gains was a notable improvement in market conditions. Average benchmark Philippine FOB laterite nickel ore prices for 1.5% grade rose 26% year-on-year, increasing from USD 36.3 to USD 45.7.
On the environmental front, DMCI Mining subsidiary Berong Nickel Corporation continues to advance rehabilitation efforts under the country’s first approved Final Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning Plan (FMRDP) for a nickel mine. To date, the company has rehabilitated over 174 hectares, exceeding its Year 3 targets. The rehabilitation program remains on track for completion in 2027, after which the rehabilitated area will be turned over to the government in fulfillment of its FMRDP commitments.
Meanwhile, in November 2025, another subsidiary, Zambales Diversified Mining Corp., received its second Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award, underscoring DMCI Mining’s commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and responsible mining—aligned with the government’s push for sustainable mineral development.
