MRT-3 partners with PhilHealth to offer free rides for members on Valentine’s Day

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) MRT-3 is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day by announcing a special “Free Ride” initiative for PhilHealth members. In coordination with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), this program marks the agency’s 31st Anniversary and the celebration of National Health Insurance Month.

On February 14, 2026, all PhilHealth cardholders can commute via the MRT-3 free of charge during peak travel hours. This collaboration aims to honor the contributions of PhilHealth members to the national universal healthcare system while providing a “heartfelt” gift to commuters on the day of hearts.

To ensure maximum benefit for workers and students, the free ride hours are scheduled during the morning and afternoon rush:

  • Morning Window: 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM

  • Afternoon/Evening Window: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

The process is designed to be quick and seamless. Eligible passengers simply need to:

  1. Proceed to any MRT-3 station service booth during the designated hours.

  2. Present a valid PhilHealth Physical Card or Digital ID to the station personnel.

  3. Receive a Single Journey Ticket (SJT) for their trip.

“We are delighted to partner with PhilHealth as they celebrate 31 years of dedicated service to the Filipino people,” said the DOTr-MRT 3 management. “This Valentine’s Day, we want to express our gratitude to our passengers by adding a bit of convenience and ease to their daily journey.”

The MRT-3 reminds the public to remain mindful of station safety protocols and to have their IDs ready before reaching the turnstiles to ensure a smooth flow of passengers.
