Pres. Marcos Jr. supports national housing program, gives homes to families on DHSUD 7th anniversary

Marking a significant milestone in the government’s mission to eliminate housing backlogs, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the awarding of new homes and financial assistance to beneficiaries of the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino (4PH) program on Monday.

The event, held at the Megawide Precast Plant, coincided with the 7th anniversary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). The President’s presence underscored the administration’s focus on providing “decent and affordable” living spaces for every Filipino family.

During his keynote address, President Marcos highlighted the precarious living conditions many Filipinos face, emphasizing the need for permanent, disaster-resilient structures. “Many of our countrymen are still renting without security. Others live in homes without enough protection against disasters. These are the challenges that the DHSUD continues to address,” the President stated in Filipino.

The President spearheaded several initiatives during the ceremony to provide both immediate shelter and long-term security of tenure:

  • Symbolic Key Turnover: Handover of keys for both vertical (condominium-style) and horizontal housing units under the Expanded 4PH Program.

  • ECMP Support: Distribution of Certificates of Lot Award and financial aid for site development under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP).

  • Security of Tenure: Awarding of Certificates of Entitlement to beneficiaries of long-standing Presidential Proclamations, some of whom had been waiting decades for legal rights to the land they occupy.

President Marcos described the awardees as representatives of a larger movement toward national stability. “They represent the families we have helped achieve the dream of security on the land they live on and new hope in a new home,” he said.

He concluded by encouraging the new homeowners to cherish their residences: “May you take care of your homes and fill them with beautiful memories with your loved ones.”
