The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) conducted a comprehensive on-site security inspection of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) on Thursday, 12 February 2026. Led by OTS Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz, the visit aimed to ensure the tollway’s strict adherence to the National Land Transportation Security Program and its own OTS-approved security protocols.
The inspection team, comprised of top OTS officials and CCLEX management, performed a rigorous walkthrough of the facility. Key areas of focus included:
-
Command and Control Center: Evaluation of real-time CCTV and traffic monitoring systems to ensure continuous oversight.
-
Perimeter Security: Inspection of the bridge structure and the surrounding coastal areas.
-
Response Readiness: Review of protocols designed to address potential security threats and emergency incidents promptly.
During the inspection, Usec. Cruz lauded the 8.9-kilometer bridge—the longest and tallest in the Philippines—as a landmark achievement.
“The CCLEX is a model of modern engineering and effective public-private partnership,” stated Usec. Cruz. “Beyond its architectural significance, it is a vital artery for Central Visayas that enhances regional connectivity, improves economic mobility, and sets a high standard for transportation security.”
This initiative underscores the commitment of the OTS to fulfill the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to fortify the nation’s transportation systems. By securing critical infrastructure, the OTS aims to foster a safer environment for tourism and sustainable economic growth.
