International travel just got a lot more accessible for Cebuanos. Starting March 29, 2026, Xiamen Airlines will officially resume its direct flight service between Quanzhou (Jinjiang) and Cebu, restoring a vital link between Central Visayas and mainland China.
The service will operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled every Tuesday and Saturday.
This resumption marks a significant milestone in Cebu’s post-pandemic recovery, adding a second direct mainland China route alongside existing flights to Shanghai. The Quanzhou-Cebu connection is expected to catalyze growth in three key areas:
-
Tourism: Streamlining access for Chinese travelers seeking Cebu’s world-class beaches and diving spots.
-
Business: Facilitating smoother trade and investment between Fujian Province and the thriving economy of Cebu.
-
Cultural Exchange: Reconnecting families and heritage sites across the South China Sea.
With a flight time of approximately three hours, travelers can quickly transition between two distinct cultural hubs:
-
For the Cebuano Traveler: Quanzhou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, offers a deep dive into history. Visitors can explore millennia-old temples, ancient stone bridges, and a rich culinary scene that shares deep roots with Filipino-Chinese heritage.
-
For the Chinese Visitor: Cebu remains the “Queen City of the South,” offering unparalleled island adventures, warm hospitality, and the vibrant energy of a tropical metropolis.
| Route | Frequency | Days |
