Philippine AXA Life Center pivots to 100% renewable energy with ACEN RES

The Philippine AXA Life Centre, a cornerstone of the Makati Central Business District, has officially commenced its transition to renewable energy. This strategic move is powered by a new supply agreement with ACEN RES, the retail electricity arm of the Ayala group and the nation’s leading Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) provider.

The shift marks a significant evolution for the established business hub, integrating modern sustainability into its long-standing reputation for stability and excellence.

The transition was facilitated through the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), which allows qualified end-users with a peak demand of at least 100kW to choose renewable energy sources.

For the Philippine AXA Life Centre, the decision is as much about tenant value as it is about the environment. “True resilience involves adapting to the needs of the future,” says Arturo Tanyag, President of the Philippine AXA Life Centre Condominium Corp. “By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also providing our tenants with a business environment that supports their own sustainability goals.”

ACEN RES continues to dominate the renewable retail sector, currently holding a 57% market share among GEOP suppliers, according to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Sheila Mina, Vice President and Head of Account Management at ACEN RES, highlighted the importance of heritage buildings joining the green movement: “As we see more established commercial hubs like this make the switch, it sends a powerful message that sustainability is now a business imperative. We are honored to guide the Philippine AXA Life Centre through every step of this journey.”

In recognition of this commitment, ACEN RES awarded the building its proprietary “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge. Launched in 2022, the badge is a visible marker of environmental leadership. The Philippine AXA Life Centre joins nearly 100 facilities nationwide that proudly display the badge as a symbol of their role in mitigating climate change.
