DMW, OWWA honored with special citations at Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s report 2025

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) were honored with Special Citation Awards during the Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s Report 2025, held on February 27, 2026, at the PICC Reception Hall.

The awards recognize the agencies’ pivotal roles in expanding the reach of social security benefits and financial services to millions of Filipinos working abroad and at sea.

The DMW was lauded for its flagship initiative, the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo – OFW Serbisyo Caravan. By integrating Pag-IBIG services into this global outreach program, the DMW successfully bridged the geographical gap between migrant workers and their benefits.

Key Achievements of the Caravan:

  • Global Reach: Conducted operations across 10 countries worldwide.

  • Membership Impact: Served nearly 4,000 overseas members.

  • Operational Efficiency: Facilitated over 14,000 transactions, ranging from membership registration to contribution tracking.

OWWA received its citation for providing dedicated, free service spaces for Pag-IBIG at the Seafarers’ Hubs in Ermita and Pasay City. This strategic partnership transformed the hubs into “one-stop shops,” allowing maritime professionals to process financial requirements while in transit or awaiting deployment.

Impact at the Seafarers’ Hubs:

  • Financial Support: Facilitated more than 2,000 short-term loan applications.

  • Benefit Access: Delivered thousands of Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus releases via over-the-counter services.

“These citations underscore the power of inter-agency collaboration. By working together, we ensure that the ‘Bagong Bayani’ are not just protected, but are also provided with the financial tools necessary to build a secure future for their families,” the agencies noted in a joint statement.

The Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s Report is an annual event that highlights the Fund’s financial performance and honors the partners who contribute to its mission of providing affordable shelter financing and an effective savings scheme for Filipinos.
