Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez officially received two bus units donated by Vallacar Transit, Inc. during a turnover ceremony on Friday.
The donation is aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Secretary Lopez highlighted that the addition of these vehicles is a significant stride in fulfilling President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to make government services more accessible and responsive to the needs of the Filipino people.
“We are grateful to Mr. Leo Rey Yanson and the leadership of Vallacar Transit, Inc.,” Secretary Lopez stated. “This generosity ensures that more of our countrymen will be served and supported, especially during times of critical need.”
The donated buses have been designated for specific high-impact roles to improve public welfare:
-
DOTr Emergency Response: One unit will be utilized to provide free rides for stranded commuters during typhoons, calamities, and other transport disruptions.
-
LTFRB Mobile Office: The second unit will serve as a Mobile Office Bus, traveling to various communities to bring LTFRB services directly to Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers, reducing the need for them to travel to regional offices.
The turnover was attended by key transport officials, signaling a unified front in improving the nation’s road transport infrastructure. Joining Secretary Lopez were:
-
Mark Steven Pastor, Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure
-
Atty. Greg Pua Jr., LTFRB Board Member
-
Loumer Bernabe, LTFRB Executive Director
This partnership between the private sector and the government underscores a shared commitment to improving the mobility and service delivery standards for the riding public and transport stakeholders alike.
