A Pokemon toy manufacturing facility with estimated investments of USD 200 million, approximately PHP11.2-billion, has been proposed for Clark, according to Clark Development Corp. and CEO Agnes Devanadera.
The project is expected to generate 6,000 new jobs for the production of Pokemon merchandize for exports globally.
Devanadera said the Pokemon toy plant is among the new investment agreements worth PHP15.2 billion for signing this month (March) with Korean and Japanese companies.
Also included in this project is a PHP4-billion luxury hotel and residences project.
In February this year, CDC signed another a PHP4-billion project by Ozooo Development Corp. for the development of a 200-hectare golf course and tourism complex.
“Clark has evolved into a site that supports both industrial growth and tourism. These projects bring capital and employment opportunities that strengthen the region’s economic landscape and position Clark as a world-class investment destination,” said CDC President and CEO Agnes Devanadera.
The golf and resort project is expected to replace investments and workforce lost after Lululemon exited Clark. Modeled after KX Company’s 72-hole course in Korea, the golf resort will also feature hotels and villas.
Together with the golf and resort facility, total investment in Clark will reach PHP19.2 billion.
Devanadera said the hotel and residences project will further reinforce Clark’s dual role as both an industrial hub and a tourism destination.
