New NNIC flight information system improves passenger experience at NAIA

Navigating the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) just got a major visual upgrade. The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp (NNIC) announced the ongoing rollout of a state-of-the-art Flight Information Display System (FIDS), designed to provide travelers with real-time, high-definition updates across all terminals.

Powered by world-class technology from Collins Aerospace, the new system represents a significant leap forward in the airport’s digital transformation.

To date, NNIC has successfully installed over 100 brand-new screens and upgraded more than 400 existing displays, ensuring that critical travel information is more accessible than ever before.

The upgraded FIDS is specifically designed to reduce traveler stress by streamlining how information is presented. Key enhancements include:

  • Comprehensive Real-Time Data: Passengers can now view instant updates on arrivals, departures, gate assignments, and baggage belt allocations.

  • Enhanced Visibility: The new screens are larger and utilize high-contrast layouts, making it easier for passengers to spot their flight details from a distance.

  • Simplified Navigation: The intuitive, easy-to-follow interface helps travelers identify their designated baggage carousels and boarding gates quickly, reducing congestion in high-traffic areas.

This digital overhaul is part of NNIC’s broader commitment to modernizing NAIA and bringing the gateway up to international standards. While the system is already operational in key areas, the rollout will continue in phases. As the technology is fine-tuned, passengers can expect even more consistent performance and additional features across all four terminals.

“Our goal is to make NAIA easier to navigate for everyone,” said an NNIC spokesperson. “By partnering with industry leaders like Collins Aerospace, we are ensuring that our passengers have the most reliable and clear information at their fingertips, from the moment they check in to the moment they reclaim their bags.”

The FIDS upgrade is one of several ongoing initiatives aimed at improving the overall passenger journey and operational efficiency at the Philippines’ primary gateway.
