𝟓𝟎% discount for MRT-3, LRT-2 commuters starting March 23

MRT-3 and LRT-2 passengers will enjoy 50 percent discount starting Monday, March 23, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced.

This followed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to lighten the daily burden of Filipino commuters.

DOTr Secretary Banoy Lopez said the 50 percent discount in fare rates for MRT-3 and LRT-2 is already a big help to commuters.

Lopez explained that it would mean savings and an incentive for motorists to take the public transport instead of bringing their own vehicles.

Lopez assured that the government is doing its best to alleviate the financial burden of Filipinos amid the rising fuel prices due to the hostilities in the Middle East.

The DOTr is also negotiating with the Light Rail Manila Corp., the private operator of LRT-1, to also grant discount to commuters.
