The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has granted a three-month extension on the validity of seafarersβ Certificates of Competency and Certificates of Proficiency in light of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
This applies to seafarers whose certificates have expired or will expire on or before June 30, 2026, while they remain onboard ships operating in or affected by the crisis, and are unable to disembark as scheduled.
MARINA said the extension will be reflected in the seafarersβ digital certificates, which can be downloaded through their MISMO accounts and verified via the agencyβs online portal.
Shipping companies, shipowners, and licensed manning agencies are required to submit documentation proving that affected seafarers were unable to disembark due to the situation.
MARINA said the measure aims to ensure the continued safe manning of ships while addressing the challenges faced by Filipino seafarers deployed in the region.
