DOTr and PNR announce comprehensive Holy Week 2026 operations

In anticipation of the significant surge in travelers for the Lenten season, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) confirmed their full operational readiness to serve the public.

Following the directive of the President to ensure seamless mobility for Filipinos returning to their provinces, the PNR has optimized its regional routes to provide reliable, efficient, and safe transport.

To accommodate the influx of passengers, the PNR will maintain consistent service on the following key routes:

  • Lucena (Quezon) – Halang Dos, Calamba (Laguna) and vice versa.

  • San Pablo (Laguna) – Halang Dos, Calamba (Laguna) and vice versa.

  • Naga (Camarines Sur) – Lupi Viejo (Camarines Sur) and vice versa.

To balance public demand with technical integrity, the PNR will observe the following schedule:

  • March 28 – April 2: Normal Operations (Resumption of full holiday service).

  • April 3 (Good Friday) – April 4 (Black Saturday): TEMPORARY SUSPENSION of operations to facilitate the essential annual maintenance of rolling stock (trains) and track infrastructure.

  • April 5 (Easter Sunday): Resumption of regular operations.

Passenger safety remains the PNR’s highest priority. In addition to increased security presence on every trip, Passenger Help Desks will be strategically stationed at all active terminals to provide immediate medical assistance, travel information, and logistical support.

As part of its commitment to social equity, the PNR continues to offer mandatory discounts for Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Students. To avail of these discounts, passengers are reminded to present a valid identification card at the point of purchase.
