ECCP to host energy dialogue with ERC Chairperson Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan to navigate Philippines’ 2026 Energy Roadmap

As the Philippines enters a pivotal year for its energy transition, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) is set to convene a strategic luncheon featuring the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chairperson and CEO, Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan.

The high-level dialogue will focus on the regulatory framework required to balance consumer protection with the country’s aggressive shift toward renewable energy.

With the Philippines aiming for a more sustainable energy mix by 2030, the ERC’s dual mandate—protecting consumer interests while ensuring the financial viability of the power industry—has never been more vital. The upcoming session comes at a critical time as the industry deals with grid modernization, price volatility, and the expansion of the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).

European firms have become central players in the Philippine energy landscape, bringing world-class expertise in grid solutions, energy efficiency, and renewable infrastructure. However, the transition from fossil fuels to renewables requires a “future-ready” regulatory approach.

“A predictable and transparent regulatory environment is the bedrock of investor confidence,” says the ECCP. “As we look toward 2026 and beyond, this dialogue serves as a bridge between European innovation and Philippine strategic policy.”

  • Strategic Roadmap: Gain first-hand insights into the ERC’s priorities and institutional reforms for the 2026–2030 period.

  • Streamlining Processes: Discuss concrete measures to accelerate permitting and rate-setting to reduce “red tape” for energy investors.

  • Innovation & Digitalization: Explore how digital transformation can enhance market monitoring and consumer protection.

  • Global Best Practices: Provide a platform for ECCP members to share international benchmarks for grid stability and renewable integration.

The luncheon will serve as a premier networking and advocacy platform, allowing private sector leaders to engage directly with the Commission. The discussion will specifically touch upon the continued implementation of Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA), which aims to empower consumers through greater market choice.

By fostering a collaborative environment, the ECCP and the ERC aim to ensure that the Philippines remains a top destination for sustainable energy investment in Southeast Asia.
