As millions of Filipinos prepare to observe Holy Week, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has called on the nation to embrace the sacred season as a time for reflection, renewal, and a deeper commitment to service and unity.
In his message, the President encouraged Filipinos to pause from their daily routines and use the occasion to strengthen their faith and sense of purpose.
“May this Holy Week strengthen our resolve to become a nation guided by faith, united in purpose, and inspired by selfless service,” President Marcos said.
He urged the public to take time for rest and reflection, emphasizing the importance of remembering the profound love demonstrated through the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The President highlighted the significance of Christ’s journey—from His entry into Jerusalem to His crucifixion and resurrection—as a powerful reminder of love that endures suffering and ultimately triumphs.
“The Passion of Christ reminds us that true greatness is not found in power, but in sacrifice; not in privilege, but in service; and not in comfort, but in the courage to carry the burdens of others,” he said.
President Marcos called on Filipinos to renew their commitment to compassion and solidarity, particularly during times of hardship. He emphasized the importance of remaining steadfast in faith and drawing inspiration from Christ’s example in facing life’s challenges with humility, perseverance, and hope.
“For in every act of compassion, every hand extended to those in need, and every sacrifice made for the good of others, we keep alive the spirit of His message,” he added.
The President also underscored the importance of unity in advancing the welfare of families, strengthening communities, and building a more compassionate and prosperous nation.
“I wish everyone a meaningful and blessed Holy Week,” President Marcos said.
