The Office for Transportation Security (OTS), led by Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz, conducted a comprehensive security inspection today across key transportation hubs, including Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), and Manila North Harbor Port (MNHP).
The initiative aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to ensure safe, orderly, and efficient travel for the public, particularly during the observance of Semana Santa.
The inspection was carried out in coordination with OTS key officers and auditors and was conducted simultaneously with ongoing monitoring activities in major transport terminals nationwide. These efforts form part of OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2026, under the leadership of Department of Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez.
At NAIA Terminal 3, the OTS team, together with key stakeholders including NAIA Special Assistant on Security Matters Ramon A. Ragasa, assessed passenger facilities such as the dedicated lane and lounge for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). The visit aimed to ensure passenger welfare while promoting safe, secure, and convenient travel.
A highlight of the inspection was the demonstration of two newly commissioned Explosive Detection Systems equipped with Computed Tomography (CT) Technology and an Automatic Tray Return System. These advanced screening systems are expected to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and speed of security operations at the airport.
Following the airport inspection, the OTS team proceeded to PITX and MNHP to ensure consistent enforcement of security protocols across all major transport hubs, especially in anticipation of increased passenger traffic during the Holy Week.
As part of its public assistance efforts, Undersecretary Cruz distributed Go Bags and informational materials to passengers to promote preparedness, awareness, and compliance with safety and security measures.
“The safety and convenience of the traveling public remain our top priority, especially during peak travel periods such as Semana Santa. We will continue to intensify our monitoring and enforcement efforts to uphold the highest standards of security across all transport facilities,” Cruz said.
