Philippine Airlines (PAL), the nation’s flag carrier, has officially been ranked as the fifth most punctual airline in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, according to the February 2026 On-Time Performance Report released by Cirium, the global leader in aviation analytics.
Recording an impressive 80.58% on-time arrival rate, PAL’s performance highlights its commitment to operational reliability amidst a period of significant recovery for the global aviation sector.
The latest Cirium data reveals a sharp improvement in industry-wide efficiency. Following a turbulent start to the year, global flight cancellations dropped by 37% in February. The total number of cancelled flights fell from 70,167 in January to just 43,904, signaling a return to stability for both airlines and airport hubs.
“February has proven to be a turning point for operational excellence,” the report noted. “The drastic reduction in cancellations suggests that carriers are successfully navigating the technical and logistical hurdles that defined the previous month.”
The Asia-Pacific region emerged as a frontrunner in this recovery, boasting a 40% decrease in flight cancellations. While North America and Europe also saw significant improvements, other regions struggled:
-
North America: 47% decrease in cancellations.
-
Europe: 33% decrease in cancellations.
-
Latin America: 13% increase in cancellations.
-
Middle East & Africa: 41% increase in cancellations.
Philippine Airlines maintains its competitive edge within a high-performing field. The top five most on-time airlines in the region for February 2026 are:
