President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined the Filipino nation in celebrating Easter Sunday, calling on the citizenry to embrace the spirit of resurrection as a catalyst for national renewal and collective responsibility.
In his official message marking the culmination of Holy Week, the President highlighted the significance of Christ’s Resurrection as a symbol of triumph over despair. He urged Filipinos to translate the solemnity of the season into tangible acts of kindness that contribute to the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines).
“The empty tomb stands as a powerful testament that life conquers death and hope prevails over despair,” President Marcos stated. “Let us build a nation where kindness is instinct and unity is our strength.”
Emphasizing the Filipino people’s inherent resilience, the Chief Executive noted that Easter serves as a timeless reminder that sacrifice is never in vain. He encouraged the public to move beyond mere words and integrate the values of the Lenten season into their daily lives.
The President’s message focused on three core pillars for the nation’s progress:
-
Compassion over Indifference: Extending help to those in need as instruments of renewal.
-
Generosity over Self-Interest: Prioritizing the common good to overcome national challenges.
-
Unity over Division: Standing together, guided by faith and a shared vision for the country.
President Marcos reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering a society defined by mutual care. He reminded the public that when the nation stands bound by love of country, “there is no challenge we cannot overcome.”
“Today, I call on every Filipino to rise with renewed purpose, unyielding hope, and a deep sense of responsibility for one another,” the President concluded. “In the Resurrection of Christ, we find an unshakable promise that God’s grace endures, and that even in our darkest hours, faith will lead us to the light.”
