Pres. Marcos Jr. pledges full support for family of Filipina killed in Haifa missile attack

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of the 29-year-old Filipina who tragically lost her life during a missile attack in Haifa, Israel, on Sunday evening.

As the conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, the President reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the safety of all overseas Filipinos and issued an immediate directive for comprehensive assistance.

“Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya ng ating kababayang nasawi sa naganap na missile attack sa Haifa, Israel. Kasama nating nagluluksa ang kanyang pamilya sa gitna ng isang trahedyang hindi dapat maranasan ninuman,” President Marcos stated on Tuesday.

(“We extend our condolences to the family of our countrywoman who died in the missile attack in Haifa, Israel. We join her family in mourning a tragedy that no one should have to experience.”)

The President has ordered the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and other relevant agencies to provide “full assistance” to the bereaved family. A primary focus of the directive is the immediate repatriation of the victim’s remains to the Philippines.

Key updates regarding the government’s response include:

  • Diplomatic Support: The Philippine Embassy in Israel is on high alert, prepared to provide logistical and consular aid to affected Filipinos.

  • Continuous Monitoring: The administration is closely tracking the regional security situation to ensure the welfare of the Filipino community remains the top priority.

  • Mass Repatriation: To date, the government’s intensified efforts have successfully repatriated thousands of Filipinos from conflict-stricken areas across the Middle East.

Beyond emergency response, the administration is focused on the long-term stability of returning workers. On Monday, the DMW spearheaded the Bayanihan Para Sa Balikbayang Manggagawa: A National Reintegration Network (NRN) Fair and Job Fair in Quezon City.

This initiative follows President Marcos’ standing order to ensure that every repatriated OFW is given the tools to rebuild their lives productively. The fair aims to provide displaced workers with new employment opportunities and financial support, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind as they navigate the transition back home.

“Nakaantabay ang ating Embahada upang maibigay ang lahat ng kinakailangang tulong,” the President added. “Ang kaligtasan ng bawat Pilipino ang ating pangunahing prayoridad.”
