The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has advised the public of temporary traffic slowdowns along selected roads in Metro Manila from April 10 to April 13, 2026, between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM, to give way to the safe transport of a major component of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
One Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), a critical piece of equipment used for underground excavation, will be transported from the Manila Harbor Center to the Tandang Sora Station.
This equipment will play a key role in constructing the subway tunnels that will connect Tandang Sora Station to Quirino Highway Station—an essential segment of the country’s first underground railway system.
Due to the size and complexity of the equipment being transported, intermittent traffic slowdowns and temporary lane closures may be experienced along the designated transport routes during the specified hours. Traffic management personnel will be deployed to assist in ensuring the orderly flow of vehicles and to minimize disruptions.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to:
- Plan their trips ahead of time
- Take alternate routes where possible
- Follow traffic advisories and instructions from authorities on the ground
The Metro Manila Subway Project is a flagship infrastructure initiative aimed at improving mass transportation, reducing travel time, and easing congestion across the metropolis. The delivery and installation of the TBM mark a significant milestone in accelerating construction progress.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this activity may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work toward delivering a more efficient and modern transport system for all Filipinos,” the DOTr said.
