Global aviation players commit to more training with AI

Authorities and and global players in the aviation industry agreed to enhance  training with AI, financing, and sustainability.

This developed at the recent Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) 2025, co-hosted by the General Civil Aviation Authorities of the United Arab Emirates and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which gathered key stakeholders from across the aviation sector to tackle pressing challenges and opportunities in training, sustainability, and industry financing.

Representing FIATA as an ICAO Trainer Plus Corporate Partner, FIATA Project Officer Sofia Aiche actively engaged with regulators, industry leaders, and training institutions, reinforcing the vital role of freight forwarders in shaping the future of air cargo.

A major focus of the symposium was the evolution of aviation training, particularly in harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for digital learning. While AI has the potential to enhance training efficiency, experts underscored the necessity of human oversight to ensure the development of critical non-technical skills. Discussions also emphasized the importance of accreditation and collaboration between governments, industry players, and educational institutions to strengthen workforce capabilities in aviation.

Driving Sustainability and Industry Financing

Sustainability took center stage, with a strong focus on scaling up Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production and aligning financing mechanisms to support developing countries in their transition to cleaner energy. ICAO introduced FINVEST, a new initiative aimed at bridging the financial gap by attracting global investments into sustainable aviation projects, infrastructure development, and training programs.

Expanding Training Opportunities with FIATA

For FIATA, GISS 2025 was a valuable platform for strengthening industry connections and engaging with training centers interested in expanding their offerings to include the ICAO-FIATA Dangerous Goods by Air Training Programme. Building these collaborations ensures that freight forwarders continue to access high-quality, globally recognized training that aligns with evolving regulatory requirements.

Commitment to the Future

As the aviation industry faces new challenges, FIATA remains committed to working alongside ICAO and industry partners to advance training solutions and support the sector’s long-term growth.
