Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL), a leading educational institution in the Philippines, has solidified its commitment to sustainability by transitioning its entire campus operations in Cabuyao, Laguna to 100% renewable energy. This major milestone was made possible through a partnership with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) under the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).
By opting for a renewable energy supplier through GEOP, Mapúa MCL is now avoiding an estimated 91 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions per month, marking a significant step in reducing its environmental footprint.
In recognition of this achievement, ACEN RES awarded Mapúa MCL its Gold “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge—a proprietary honor given to organizations leading the charge in clean energy adoption in the Philippines.
The official partnership was celebrated through a switching ceremony attended by Mapúa MCL’s leadership and student representatives. The event featured a Renewable Energy 101 session led by ACEN RES, designed to educate and engage students on the fundamentals and far-reaching impact of the clean energy transition. The initiative aimed to inspire students to champion sustainability in their future careers and communities.
