Transportation Sec. Vince Dizon confirmed, vows to accelerate projects

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon’s ad interim appointment was officially approved by the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday, following his firm pledge to fast-track major transport projects aimed at easing the daily burden and saving valuable time for Filipino commuters.

The Commission members had expressed their overwhelming support for Secretary Dizon on Tuesday, underscoring their confidence in his leadership to address critical transportation challenges.

Secretary Dizon reiterated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s clear directive to enhance the lives of Filipinos by directly addressing the pressing issues within the transport sector. “I was asked by the President to make the lives of our commuters more comfortable, safe, and to fast-track the ongoing projects that will uplift the lives of our commuters daily,” Secretary Dizon stated during his address to the CA members on Tuesday.

He further emphasized the President’s dual mandate, highlighting the urgency of the situation for daily commuters. “The President gave two main instructions: make our fellow citizens’ commutes more comfortable and safe because what they go through daily is no joke—including the hardship of commuting. But the most painful part is the time they lose every day due to a lack of infrastructure.”

The transport chief expressed profound gratitude to the Commission for their trust, affirming his resolve to fulfill the President’s order by delivering commuter-centered projects that ensure comfortable, efficient, and safe public transportation for all Filipinos.
