Information Technology Security Distribution Inc. (ITSDI), the official Philippine distributor of the industry leader in certified data erasure -Blancco Technology Group – said the time to secure data even erased data of companies and organizations is now.
Vincent Sim, Blancco Regional Director for Southeast Asia, pointed out the importance of secure data erasure technology for the Philippine, a global IT and digital services hub, powering both global outsourcing operations and fast-growing local industries. From multinational banks and healthcare providers to homegrown fintech startups and government agencies, organizations across the country rely on high-volume data processing to run daily operations.
Sim explained that one particular area that still receives inadequate attention is the final stage of data storage: disposal. Many companies face mounting pressure to manage and secure their high-volume data needs across the entire life cycle. Consequently, mistakes can happen, and in some cases, these errors can prove costly.
The Philippines ranks among the most breached (i.e., hacked) countries in Asia. In 2023 alone, major incidents at a major food chain and a government benefits provider needlessly exposed the private data of millions of Filipinos. The National Privacy Commission (NPC) noted that negligence and outdated practices, including improper data sanitization, were contributing factors.
Based on breach-tracking research conducted for over two decades, over 124 million Filipino user accounts have been compromised since 2004. This puts the Philippines fifth in Asia in terms of data exposure.
According to Sim, ITSDI equips local companies with secure and standards-compliant erasure and data sanitization tools that secure and safeguard end-of-life data using Blancco’s solutions. “Blancco do more than wipe files. They permanently erase data and produce tamper-proof certificates that satisfy regulatory audits and client demands,” said Sim.
Earlier this year, Biancco named ITSDI as its 2024 Distributor of the Year for Southeast Asia. The award recognizes not just product knowledge but the ability to help clients integrate data erasure into broader risk management frameworks. ITSDI supports enterprises, SMEs, and government offices alike with implementation, training, and ongoing technical support.
“We are proud to recognize ITSDI as Blancco’s 2024 Distributor of the Year. This recognition only pushes us to work harder and support our various clients’ data erasure requirements for their total security,” declared Vincent Sim, Blancco Regional Director for Southeast Asia.
Trust the Recognized Leader in Secure Data Erasure
More than just a technology provider, ITSDI is a trusted partner to some of the most security- conscious institutions in the country. In fact, Blancco recognized ITSDI as its Southeast Asia Distributor of the Year for 2024, a distinct honor that reflects the latter’s leadership, reliability, and value.
For companies that manage sensitive data at scale, peace of mind begins by knowing no amount of data gets left behind. ITSDI helps make secure erasure an integrated part of your company’s data life cycle. And with rising risks from opportunists and tighter enforcement among regulators, the best time to secure data is now.
“Hackers and breaches have always created challenges. When it comes to preventing data theft, the best solution will always be a proactive one. When data is permanently and securely removed from decommissioned drives and devices, it can’t be stolen or leaked,” Sim added. “With ITSDI as Blancco’s trusted Philippine partner, local businesses can ensure that their sensitive data will remain secure and inaccessible no matter what.”
As a response, the government has recently increased regulatory pressure to keep companies on their guard. Today, the Data Privacy Act authorizes fines of up to three percent of a company’s gross annual income for violations on data protection. This includes provisions on improper data disposal that can lead to imprisonment and penalties reaching PHP1 million.
Sim said that executives, business owners, and IT managers, treating data disposal as a low priority is thus no longer an option.
