President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. today extended a warm welcome to prominent business leaders from across Asia who have gathered in Manila for the 14th Asian Business Summit (ABS). The summit, co-organized by the Philippines-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee (PHILJEC) and the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), marks the second time the Philippines has hosted the event, the first being 11 years ago in 2014.
During a courtesy call at Malacañan Palace by officials from PHILJEC and Keidanren, as well as ABS delegates, President Marcos emphasized the critical need for strengthened multilateral cooperation and interrelationships in the face of current global challenges.
“The interrelationships between our different countries are going to be the key to stability and development and progress,” President Marcos stated during the courtesy call.
In a social media statement, the President highlighted the government’s collaboration with PHILJEC and ABS delegates to attract investments in clean energy and modern industries. These investments are aimed at generating quality jobs for Filipinos.
President Marcos expressed optimism for the future, envisioning “factories powered by renewable energy and digital hubs rising across the country, bringing progress closer to every Filipino family.”
PHILJEC Chairman Richard Albert I. Osmond, who is also the President of the Science Park of the Philippines Inc., confirmed that business leaders from 12 economies are represented at this year’s ABS. The inaugural Asia Business Summit was held in Tokyo in 2010, an initiative of Keidanren.
Also present during the courtesy call were PHILJEC Co-Chairman Alfred V. Ty, Chairman of Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation; PHILJEC Co-Chairman Ferdinand A. Ferrer, CEO of Gruppo EMS Inc.; Nobuhiro ENDO, Keidanren Vice Chairman and Executive Advisor of NEC Corporation; and Masayuki HYODO, Keidanren Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sumitomo Corporation.
