DOTr and LTO revolutionize license plate distribution with new digital system

In a significant move to enhance public service and streamline vehicle registration, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced the successful launch of the Plate Registration Management Information System (PRMIS). This new digital platform, a direct response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate license plate distribution, promises to deliver Official Receipts/Certificates of Registration (OR/CR) and physical license plates to motorists within a maximum of three days.

The introduction of PRMIS marks a pivotal moment for Filipino motorists who have historically faced prolonged waiting periods, often stretching months or even years, to receive their vehicle’s essential documents and plates.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon highlighted the transformative impact of the new system. “To our motorists, you can hope—now President Bongbong Marcos has forced us to find a way to accelerate the release of the plate. Maximum three days you can get your plaques,” Secretary Dizon stated. “Before, our countrymen still had to wait for their plaque, OR/CR. Years to be counted. Now, even faster.”

Secretary Dizon further explained that PRMIS is an integral part of the DOTr’s broader digitalization initiative, which aims to provide faster, more efficient, and comfortable public services across all its attached agencies. This commitment to digital transformation underscores the government’s dedication to modernizing bureaucratic processes for the benefit of the public.

The DOTr and LTO will continue to actively collaborate with car dealerships nationwide to ensure the seamless and expedited release of license plates. “To the car dealerships, please help us so that our countrymen can get their license plate at least the same day. We will roll this out all over the country in the coming days,” Secretary Dizon urged, emphasizing the crucial role of dealerships in this accelerated process.

This initiative is expected to significantly improve the experience of vehicle owners, reduce backlogs, and contribute to more efficient road management across the Philippines.
