The Philippine government continues to accelerate its efforts in digitalization and prepare the nation for the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In a significant step, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) announced that the National Innovation Council (NIC) has approved the formation of a technical group. This group, comprising experts and leaders from industry, academe, and government, will undertake a comprehensive study on AI capabilities, ecosystems, and future applications within the Philippines.
The establishment of this new think tank, dedicated to innovating AI policy, marks a crucial progression for the country. It aligns seamlessly with the government’s overarching National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Roadmap, underscoring a commitment to fostering a robust and responsible AI environment.
In this context, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and its ICT Committee are proud to announce the upcoming Second AI Forum. This timely event will provide vital updates on AI policy developments, not only within the Philippines but also across the wider region.
Beyond policy discussions, the forum will delve into critical ethical considerations as AI increasingly integrates into the core of our social and economic realities. Key areas of focus will include the implications of AI in education, its impact on business practices, and its role in achieving inclusive development.
The Second AI Forum is designed to be a dynamic platform for dialogue, bringing together key stakeholders from government, industry leaders, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and the academe. The overarching goal is to foster collaborative discussions that will advance the responsible governance of emergent technologies in the Philippines.
