PPA joins UK offshore wind ports learning visit to advance clean energy goals

The Philippine Port Authority (PPA) is proud to announce its participation in the UK Offshore Wind Ports Learning Visit, which commenced yesterday in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. This crucial visit aims to strengthen the relationship between the Philippines and the UK in clean energy transition and port modernization.

The Philippine delegation, led by Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Giovanni Carlo J. Bacordo, includes key representatives from the DOE, Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center, alongside the PPA. The delegation will engage in a series of high-level meetings from July 27 to August 2, facilitated by the British Embassy Manila and the UK Department for Business and Trade.

Atty. Mark Jon S. Palomar and Engr. Reynald C. Paraffina are representing the PPA, actively participating in discussions to gain insights into the UK’s best practices in offshore wind port development.

Day one of the visit included a comprehensive briefing at Saint Andrew’s House from the Scottish Government, focusing on regulations, government support, and strategic planning for offshore wind (OSW) development.

The PPA’s involvement in this learning visit underscores the Philippines’ commitment to developing sustainable, modern, and efficient ports, paving the way for a greener future.
