Shopee launches nationwide training roadshow for MSMEs

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Brazil, has launched a nationwide training initiative called the Tatak Pinoy MSME Training Roadshow in partnership with 20 local government units (LGUs), starting with Mandaluyong City. The program aims to help micro and small enterprises go digital and thrive online for long-term, resilient growth.

Jack Ng, Shopee Philippines’ Head of Commercial, shared that following Mandaluyong, the roadshow will reach 10 cities—including Meycauayan, Bulacan—before the end of the year. The remaining stops will include cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The Tatak Pinoy MSME Training Roadshow is designed to connect micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the Shopee ecosystem through collaboration with LGUs. This ensures that even grassroots entrepreneurs can access tools and support for sustainable business growth.

“Every seller has the capacity to grow with the right support,” he said.
“We will provide help at every stage of the journey.”

Ng added that while a wide variety of legitimate merchandise can be sold on the Shopee platform, the company encourages vendors to feature more locally made products that showcase Filipino craftsmanship, creativity, and culture.

The program officially launched on August 7, 2025, in Mandaluyong City—home to Shopee Philippines. The event was attended by Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Aguilar-Abalos and Mandaluyong City Councilor Charissa Abalos-Vargas, both strong advocates of local enterprise development in Mandaluyong, the second smallest city in Metro Manila.

The roadshow is an expansion of Shopee’s Tatak Pinoy initiative, which has evolved from a campaign celebrating Filipino sellers and products into a comprehensive long-term MSME development program.

Now in its fifth year, Shopee’s Tatak Pinoy initiative has grown from a campaign celebrating Filipino sellers and products into a comprehensive program focused on long-term MSME development.

Through Tatak Pinoy International, Shopee has supported nearly 200,000 local sellers and facilitated the sale of over 22 million Filipino-made products to global markets.

This year also marks Shopee’s 10th anniversary in the Philippines—a milestone that includes nearly 100,000 hours dedicated to training and upskilling MSMEs nationwide.

The roadshow’s kickoff in Mandaluyong brought together nearly 200 local MSMEs. Known for its business-friendly climate and strong public-private partnerships, Mandaluyong exemplifies Shopee’s shared vision of empowering MSMEs as key contributors to digital inclusion and economic development.

“We’re proud Mandaluyong is the launch city for Shopee’s Tatak Pinoy MSME Roadshow,” said Mayor Abalos.

“Our goal has always been to make it easier for entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses, especially through accessible and practical digital tools. Partnering with Shopee allows us to bring critical training right to our communities and ensure more local sellers can thrive online.”
