Pres. Marcos Jr. welcomes new ambassadors, reaffirms strong diplomatic ties

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officially welcomed four newly designated ambassadors to the Philippines at a ceremony in Malacañan Palace on Tuesday. The event underscored the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening its bilateral relationships and fostering cooperation with nations across the globe.

The ambassadors who presented their credentials were:

  • H.E. Marc Innes-Brown from Australia
  • H.E. Dana Kursh from Israel
  • H.E. Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed from the Maldives (non-resident ambassador)
  • H.E. Netra Prasad Timsina from Nepal (non-resident ambassador)

Advancing Strategic Partnerships

During the ceremony, President Marcos highlighted the importance of these diplomatic relationships. He emphasized that the Philippines’ engagements with partners like Australia are vital for regional peace and stability. “Together with other multilateral relationships,” the President stated, “these have strengthened once again the position of peace-loving countries and states.”

Australian Ambassador Innes-Brown echoed this sentiment, noting his country’s dedication to advancing its strategic partnership with the Philippines.


Deepening Cooperation with Israel

In his meeting with Israeli Ambassador Kursh, President Marcos recognized the long-standing and robust ties between the Philippines and Israel. “I can see a very bright future for that relationship,” he said, adding that the Philippines stands ready to “help you and the region find peace.”

Ambassador Kursh affirmed Israel’s commitment to supporting the President’s vision for the Philippines. She highlighted several key areas for future collaboration, including:

  • Agriculture and water solutions
  • Peace and security
  • Defense, technology, and innovation
  • Health and cybersecurity
  • Tourism and education

She also expressed hope for new initiatives during her tenure, such as the establishment of direct flights between the two countries and the continued growth of the Filipino community in Israel.
